Hopefully the games are not as nap-worthy as they have been in the past.

Cuteness Abounds

Our first (far from the last) clothes change. Thankfully, she is not to that stage yet where we she stands in front of the mirror for hours with nothing being 'right'
It's the cutest thing ever (until the next clothes change!)

The Visitors II: Pride of the Grandparents

My parents brought my Grandma and Grandpa Berg up to see their new granddaughter.

Day of Visits-Round 1

She has lots of people that love her, so I know we will have lots of people rotating in and out of the room in the next couple of days, but this morning, Annika's aunts were the first to visit her.

Resting

Oh yeah, totally forgot the stats

9 lbs 12 ozs, 21 inches, no wonder it took so long. Mom and baby are resting well and doing great.

She's Here!

At 3:49pm Jan 8, 2010 Annika Faith Berg was born at Overland Park Regional.

Back to the Future: Part 1

I finally got the pics uploaded of what we had to go through to get to the hospital and get going. This child will never hear the end of "We had to walk, ten miles! In the snow! Uphill! People were running off the road, but your dad got you and your mother safely to the hospital, with drifts higher than the car! and -17 degrees!"
Yeah, I'm totally telling her that when she gets older.

Induction 2: Electric Boog-a-loo

So, we have been in the hospital since 8 on Wed night, and much to the surprise of the nurses when they changed shifts and saw us still in the ready room, we are about start round two of The Induction. The nurses just got the pitocin going, and our doctor told us yesterday that if Monica does not go into labor from the medicine today, we will do a C-Section, so one way or another, Annika will be here today.

Two very important jobs: Blogging and practicing holding a baby

Waiting for the medicine to kick in and get rolling!

The beginning of the beginning of the beginning of the end (of the beginning)

Okay, so at our regular OB appointment on Tuesday, our wonderful doctor seemed to take pity on Monica's predicament: broken left arm, superficial thrombosis in her left leg and developing on her right, and the swelling of her legs that did not get better after being confined to the couch and the bed for a few weeks. She consulted with a Perinatologist and decided that inducing her would be the best way, rather than to continue the misery. I am currently writing from the hospital, where we are waiting patiently for the medication to start the induction process and hopefully our daughter will make her debut before the weekend :)

What else?!?!?

For those of you who don't know yet, last weekend was a bit of a hectic mess for us. On Friday afternoon, Monica and I had a great day, relaxing and having a good time. We came home, ate dinner, then got ready to relax with a movie or some Super Mario Wii (which we just bought).
Monica, being 39 weeks pregnant and having superficial thrombosis in both legs, needed help taking her boots off. Being the great husband I am, I helped her out and knelt to pull them off of her poor swollen feet. Unfortunately, our very dear, but very needy dogs always feel the need to be close to anything new on the floor, which was me, and started bumping into us. Monica lost her balance, and went down on the hardwood floors, hitting her elbow first.
The baby is fine, she started kicking just a little later, and we called the doctor who seemed to agree that she would be fine. I was hoping it was just a bad bang/bruise, but after a couple of hours of not feeling better, I decided to take her to the ER. They were very nice, but wanted to X-ray it, but since it wasn't our regular doctor and we didn't feel comfortable until talking with our regular doctor, so they put it in a sling and we headed home for a long night of pain and discomfort.
Naturally, Saturday I hosted a big invite, so I was gone most of the day, but my mom came over and took care of her, ending up taking her to our regular doctor and long story just a bit shorter, it turned out that she has a fracture on the radial head.
Will make delivery interesting. And when I say interesting, I mean suck more than it was already going to.
