Every year the Kansas City Zoo has a teacher appreciation day where all teachers get in free. Derek and I decided to take advantage of this and take Annika. We couldn't stay all day so we went straight to Africa and stayed there the whole time. It was a perfect morning and we had a great time.

Annika was playing and I asked her to say cheese and this is what I got!
She wasn't feeling all that well and was very fussy. So, I tried a movie. She had to have her baby and a blanket. She watched for about 15 minutes before getting up. It was a great 15 minutes!
Just a random cute picture of our little girl!
After the Spinach Festival we walked up to the park and let Annika play for awhile. Annika actually ran because she loves the park! She climbed right up to the slide and slid down, over and over again. It was such a beautiful morning and we had a great time. But, eventually we had to leave. I love how she holds onto Derek's hand. So cute!
A couple weeks ago we decided to go to the local Spinach Festival. I wasn't sure what to expect but it sounded fun and it was something different to do. There were lots of arts and craft booths, food, activities for kids, and even a band. Annika loved the band! As soon as she heard and saw them, she took off running and then just stood there, not moving, watching. She was the only one but she didn't care. After the band we went and let her ride the horse. She was not sure of this at first and kept saying, "Off!" But, by the end she loved it and wanted to ride more. Maybe next year!

We went to the park this evening and met Marlena, Dale and Logan. The weather was perfect for a picnic and some playing outside. Annika was pretty excited to get to the equipment and walked ahead of us and then climbed right up to the slide and slid down saying "wheeee!" It is fun to see her be so independent!
