Christmas Part 1

On Christmas Eve we headed to Derek's parents and Annika got to open a few of her presents.  Her favorite of the night was a Disney Princess Bell doll.  She didn't want to have anything to do with any other present until the doll was out of the package.  She also got a fun Elmo toy, some books, a new baby doll, and a super cute hat that her Aunt Kristen made her.  She is a lucky girl!

Santa

We took Annika to see Santa twice this year.  I fully expected her to cry and scream, but that didn't happen at all.  She was a little apprehensive at first, but then loved it.  She knows Santa says, "Ho! Ho! Ho!" but that's about it.  The first time we went, Annika and I were with Derek's mom Jan at the mall.  She did so great we decided to go again so Derek could see her.  She did great both times!

Scary Night

It's well established that Annika bumps her head a lot.  On Wednesday, she fell, as normal, and got a knot on her forehead, again normal, but a couple hours later, she threw up, abnormal, but our only thought was that she was catching a bug.  After her nap, she threw up again, very abnormal, and both of us had the same thought at the same time: concussion.  We called our doctor and spoke to a friend of ours who is a pediatrician, both recommended that we take her in to Children's Mercy to get a CT.  So, we did, and they were great.  We got a CT, but unfortunately she wouldn't stay still enough for a clear picture, so they had to sedate her, which is by far the scariest thing that we have ever had to face, as she has never had to be sedated before, watching your child be sedated and wonder if she'll have a bad reaction and not wake up, we've had some scares before, but that has been the worst.  Luckily, the CT was clear, and the doctor was sure that it was either a minor concussion or a coincidental stomach flu.  5 hours later, we finally got her home and in bed and she was able to have a great Christmas!

1st Haricut

Annika desperately needed a haircut.  At least in the back.  She had a really good mullet going on, but it was time to get her hair under control.  So we went over to Sheer Madness for her first hair cut.  She got to sit in a cute purple jeep and watch a movie while the wonderful, patient hairdresser cut her hair.  I must admit, I was shocked that there were no tears.  She did great!  And even though we cut off some of her curls (they will grow back!) I think her hair looks so much better!

Yogurt, Again

Usually Annika is not super messy.  Unless she is eating yogurt.  For some reason, she loves to get this EVERYWHERE.  This is what she looked like after having yogurt for dinner last night.  She definitely had a bath this night!

Toys & Crib

Annika has slept with her baby dolls for awhile now.  Then she added her books.  One is the prayer book we read her every night and the other is just a random book about animals.  Then she added a teddy bear blanket and a rabbit blanket.  Then, the other night, she wanted her little dolls that go with her doll house.  When I went to get her from her nap this is what I found.  She was playing with her baby doll but look at the little dolls on her book.  They are lined up watching her play.  She stayed in her crib for about 15 minutes, just playing with her toys.  Love it!

Crown Center is an area near downtown KC where the Hallmark headquarters are located.  Every year they put up Christmas lights in all the trees and a play area.  We decided to head down last Saturday night, Annika got to drive a tractor, ride a pig, and played with large Nutcrackers.  When it got a little too cold to keep playing, we headed inside for coffee, and stopped at the Crayola store where she had a chance to draw with crayons of colors she doesn't normally get a chance to use!  She loved it all!  Even when she got freaked out by Robo-Santa!

We had pictures taken at the end of October and I'm finally getting around to posting them.  Megan from MegD Photography took our pictures again this year.  They turned out so great and I love them.

Manners
