Date Night #10

For our October date, we did a breakfast date.  Originally, we were going to walk from our house, down the Trolley Trail from Waldo to Brookside and have breakfast and coffee in our new favorite coffee house.  It's about a 5 or 6 mile round trip.  It ended up being a bit cold and so we decided to drive instead, but still enjoyed a good breakfast and some great coffee.  While the date may not have gone exactly as planned, we still were able to spend some quality time together without the kids, which is always welcome.  I love this woman, and I cherish these times where we are spending time intentionally together.

Pumpkin Patch #2

Since our first trip to the pumpkin patch ended abruptly, the next week, on Ashers birthday, we decided on a whim to try again.  This time around, the weather cooperated, giving us a clear,  balmy morning.  Mom, Kristen, and Ashton met us and we all spent the morning walking around the fields, playing in the maze, and getting some great pictures.  It's great to be able to spend this kind of time with family.

Pumpkin Patch 1st Try

Every year, Monica and I take a day off from school and take the kids to the pumpkin patch, it makes for a great mental break and good way to avoid the weekend crowd.  This year, we decided to make it early and do it on the first weekend of October and then head down to Carthage to visit Monica's mom, sister, and the boys and take in a football game.  The weather took a turn, cold rain blew in just as we got to the farm, so we took pictures quickly, grabbed a couple of pumpkins, then bolted.  At least the kids got a chance to decorate the pumpkins with their new kits.

Asher wasn't having any of the goat in the pen next to the photo plaque.

How Tall This Fall?

This is turning into my favorite post to do every year.  Sometimes I don't realize how big the kids are getting until I look back at old pictures.  This year Asher didn't want to stand for the pics, and it totally reminded me of Annika at that age.

Asher's 2nd Birthday

Asher's second birthday has come around and this year, we went with the Superhero theme, as he is getting more and more interested/excited with superheroes of all kinds.  Originally, we were going to go to a park, but the weather did not cooperate, raining for a couple of days straight, ending only a few hours before the party was scheduled, so we made the decision to hold it at the house.  It worked out well, as the sun came out and warmed up enough to allow the kids to play outside for awhile.
To go with the theme, we made the kids capes out of t-shirts, they made their own masks, and we played Hulk Smash!  The kids had fun, and so did the adults.
