Easter Eggs

We dyed Easter Eggs the week before Easter, and since both kids are old enough to enjoy it, we got them each their own kit.  They had a blast, dipping the eggs into the different colors, and even adding some glitter sparkle!  We did almost 2 dozen!  We didn't hide them all, but enough to make it fun.  They are at the age where the joy and wonder of it all is still so fun and fresh.

Going Home

Monica and the kids and I left Houston a couple of days earlier than mom, kristen and ashton, so we spent some time in the airport, hanging out.  The kids really love planes, and were fascinated by everything that went into the process of flying.  I'm relieved that they were so good with flying, it makes it easier to look forward to traveling as a family.

Spring Break Day 4

On our last day at the resort, the girls (Monica, Annika, Jan, and Kristen) went to the downtown area of Montgomery and spent the morning walking and shopping.  They took some great shots.  After naptime, Annika wanted to go back to the beach, so we headed out.  The kids would have stayed longer if we let them.  The weather was beautiful, and even though Asher doesn't normally like sand, he sat and played away.  We capped off the evening by walking down to the frozen yogurt shop.  I think the walk was more fun than the ice cream :)

Fire ants!

Spring Break Day 3

In Montgomery, TX, not far from Lake Conroe, there is a wolf sanctuary.  They rescue wolves and wolf/dog hybrids that were removed from homes, shows, and breeders. Turns out, wolves don't make great pets, who knew.   It was pretty amazing, for us adults.  The kids loved it for the first 15 minutes or so, enjoyed looking at the wolves, but once the tour started, that was too much sitting for this 2 year old, and a little much for the 5 year old.  It was worth it in the end when they brought out one of the more docile members, a female named Tala that was over 80% wolf and raised by a sweet old lady who just couldn't give her the attention she needed, so she gave her to the sanctuary.  The kids did get some wolves that do make great pets, they are sleeping with them right now.

Spring Break Day 1

For our Spring Break this year, we flew down to Texas to visit dad. This was the kids first flight, so they were pretty excited.  Luckily, Grandma has a couple of mini iPads for her classroom that we were able to comandeer for the trip, so each of them had something to play/watch, coming in very handy when we had to wake up at 3:30 in the morning to get to the airport.

She loved watching the tarmac and all that went on with the planes, fascinated by all that went into our plane ride :)

And it didn't take long for our 3:30am alarm clock to catch up.  The ride from the airport to the resort was over an hour, so that gave them plenty of time to catch up on some sleep.
We found a park within walking distance from the condo, so we got to enjoy the weather and get some exercise.

Spring Break Day 2

On our second day, we went down the road to the yacht club on the shore and had fun.  The kids played at the park, we took some great pictures, and just enjoyed spending time together.  Oh yeah, and it was St Patty's day, so that was fun :)
