Curtis on the Shelf

We bought Annika an Elf on the Shelf a couple years ago, but this was the first year she understood looking for him.  The way it works is Santa sends an Elf to your house for your children to look over them during the Christmas season.  The elf goes back to Santa every night to let him know if the children has been naughty or nice.  Then, every morning, the kids look for the elf to see where he landed when he flew back from the North Pole.  The kids are supposed to name their elf and are not to touch them because they will lose their magic.

Annika decided to name her elf Curtis.  I have no idea where this came from. We do not have any friends with this name and she does not go to school with anyone with this name.  So, Curtis entered our home on December 1.  Annika completely got that she had to find the elf every morning.  The not touching him part was a little more difficult.  By end of the month, Curtis was her new best friend and she took him everywhere and even slept with him.  We didn't fight that whatsoever.  It was cute and she was having fun so who cares!

I was going to take a picture everyday of where Curtis landed.  Well, that lasted all of about five days.  So here are a few of the pics that I did get.  It was fun and next year I'm sure Annika will understand the magic part of things.  And if she doesn't I don't really care.  She can just look forward to her friend Curtis visiting every December.

Playing with some of Annika's toys.
Reading of course!
Getting in a little workout.
Annika waving at Curtis while brushing her teeth.
Playing on Christmas morning.
Curtis was tired after a long month.
